Time off for Medical Appointments

Where appointments cannot be undertaken outside normal hours then a period of up to two hours will be allowed for routine medical appointments. Any time taken in excess of the two hour appointment entitlement will be debited from the flexi sheet.

Where possible employees must ensure that appointments are made outside core hours (i.e. before 11.00am or after 3.00pm.). Hospital appointments will be with pay on receipt of a hospital appointment card or letter.

Time off for Dental and Optician Appointments

Where possible employees must ensure that appointments are made outside core hours (i.e. before 11.00am or after 3.00pm.)

Where appointments cannot be undertaken outside core hours then a period of 2 hours twice a year will be allowed for dental and 1 hour once a year for optician appointments. Where appropriate any additional hours will be debited from the flexi sheet.

Note:  Employees who habitually use display screen equipment as a significant part of their normal work can claim reimbursement of fees for Optical Services.  Click here for further information.

Time off for other health related Appointments

All other health related appointments (eg, alternative therapies etc) must be taken in the employee’s own time.
