Carbon Reduction Officer
Job description
We are looking to recruit a Carbon Reduction Officer to join our Carbon Reduction, Energy and Asset Management Team on a permanent, full time basis.
About the role
The post holder will work closely with the Carbon Reduction, Energy and Asset Manager, to support, develop and deliver carbon reduction schemes across the County, which contribute to the Council’s
2030 Net-Zero ambition.
On a day to day basis you will:
Contribute to the development of Council policies and strategies in relation to energy / carbon reduction.
Secure and maximise the use of external funding opportunities for the implementation of energy / carbon reduction schemes
Monitor energy consumption within the Council’s buildings
Support and develop the improvement in energy efficiency of the Councils assets
Work collaboratively with Members and Officers in order to enhance and improve the Authority’s Corporate energy performance
Help develop innovative and creative training programs / events to increase staff awareness of the need and benefit of energy efficiency
Proactively identify potential opportunities for carbon reduction and renewable energy generation schemes
Carry out feasibility studies on large scale energy generation projects
Maintain good working relationships with and work in collaboration with other public sector, private sector and 3rd sector partners, to develop solutions to becoming net zero carbon
Assist in the development and delivery of Electric Vehicle Charging throughout the County
We are looking to recruit an individual:
Educated to degree level or a professional qualification in a relevant field
Who is able to demonstrate experience in identifying and delivering carbon reduction projects and initiatives
With excellent interpersonal, presentational and negotiating skills
An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines without close supervision
Who is enthusiastic and self-motivated
In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. A successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the desired standard within two years of appointment.

Subject to certain conditions being met, you may choose to work from home or in an office location. Due to the nature of the role, it will be necessary for you to travel within Ceredigion on a regular basis.
