What is a Referral Order Panel?
Panels are ways of working with young people who commit crimes. Local people take the lead in challenging children/young people to take responsibility for their actions and helping them to change their behaviour. Panels give the person harmed an opportunity, if they wish, to voice how the crime has affected them and what needs to happen to put things right. Volunteer Role
To work with children/young people, their families and the person harmed by the crime, to help repair the harm caused and prevent further offending. Volunteer panel members will talk and listen to these key people and agree with the child/young person a positive and constructive plan of action, designed to meet the outcomes detailed above. Specific Tasks of a Volunteer Referral Order Panel Member
Knowledge, Skills and AttitudeVolunteers will need to possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualities in order to become a volunteer Referral Order Panel Member:
Referral Order Panel Members are supervised and supported by the Volunteer coordinator.
Volunteers will be expected to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to recruitment and provide two personal references. Additionally, volunteers will also be expected to undertake the comprehensive training required to fulfil this role.
