Disclosure and Barring Service / Safe Recruitment Policy
Ceredigion County Council has a duty to ensure the protection of children and vulnerable adults to whom it provides a service. This places a responsibility on the Council to ensure it has clear and robust procedures for establishing the suitability of all Council employees and volunteers as a fundamental part of the recruitment and appointment process and beyond.
This policy sets out the Council’s standards towards the safe recruitment and retention of people who wish to work with vulnerable groups (children and/or adults). It covers all Ceredigion County Council staff, other individuals and organisations including those employed within Schools in Ceredigion and as such is recommended for adoption by Governing Bodies. It complements the Recruitment and Selection Policy and Safe Recruitment guidance for Schools which sets out the wider pre-employment checks.
