Welsh Language

The Council places an emphasis on providing a good quality service, in Welsh or English, in our dealings with members of the public. Service users have a right to communicate with the Council in Welsh or English. This means that all new correspondence initiated by the Council must be sent to the public bilingually. For more information on the Council’s Welsh Language Standards click here.

In addition, we also encourage the use of Welsh amongst staff. In a bid to create a truly bilingual workplace we have established ‘Iaith ar Waith’ which supports staff, be they learners or fluent speakers, to improve their language skills so that staff are able to speak Welsh on all occasions. We actively encourage and promote staff attendance on Welsh language courses. For more information on the courses available please contact Meryl Evans on 01545 572708 or e-mail meryle@ceredigion.gov.uk.
