Confidentiality

Any data collected by the Council must conform to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and other related legislation, whether it be collected and stored on paper, computer media, telephone or any other method. It is the Council’s policy that personal information must be dealt with correctly, properly, respectfully, legally and securely to ensure full compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other related legislation. It is important that the lawful and proper treatment of personal information by employees, Members, agents of the Council, partner organisations and others, in order to maintain the confidence of users of our services, citizens and other public & private sector users. Employees are obliged not to divulge such information to any person other than a senior officer of the Council who is deemed eligible under the Council’s Scheme of Delegation.
