Additional Hours and Allowances
Waking Allowance / Night Duty Allowance: Pay time and a quarter enhancement during the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to employees working nights only (receive 1 hour break during this period of which only 30 minutes is unpaid) The employee in order to receive this payment must work at least 5 hours during this period.
Un-Social Hours Allowance: Employees (not night staff) in receipt of basic pay at or below Scale point 22 working before 6.00 a.m. or after 9.00 p.m. (Mon-Fri) to receive a payment of 20% on top of basic pay for the hours worked.
Additional hours will only be paid when flexible arrangements cannot be used and can apply to both standard hours and other patterns of work.
Employees in receipt of basic pay at or below those entitled to an increment will will be paid time and a half for all overtime worked in excess of 37 hours per week.
Employees in receipt of basic pay above Scale point 22 will be given ‘Time off in lieu’ for any overtime worked or in the event that time off cannot be taken within 13 weeks they will be paid at plain time.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WORKING (As part of a normal working week)
Employees in receipt of basic pay at or below Scale point 22 are entitled to the following:
Saturday – Time and a quarter;
Sunday – Time and a half;
Employees in receipt of basic pay above Scale point 22 – Plain time rates apply.
Additional Hours and Allowances (8 designated days) – Double Time
